Anybody here have a Record 75 vise with the removable pipe jaw? I bought a 75 recently, but the jaw is missing and I'm wondering if I might be able make a replacement. I've found a drawing of one and it doesn't look very complicated, but it would be nice to see an actual picture of one and hopefully get the measurements.

There's a thread here that shows a nice restoration of a 75, but it's missing the jaw as well.

I've attached a pic of my vise and one of a drawing showing the "pipe grips".

Thanks.

I've got one. Mines newer than your 75 but the dimensions are likely the same. Will find it and try to post tomorrow, but may not be able to get to it until Saturday.

That would be great! There's no big rush, so take your time.

Thanks,

Andy

Andy - here you are. My vise is newer - I wish Record still included the oil hole and the swivel lock levers rather then the bolts that require a wrench to swivel the vise - and I completely love the way they dovetailed the anvil surface into the vise in that old catalog page!

I included shots of the vise to see how the pipe insert protrudes about 1" past the static jaw.

In case the pics of the calipers are hard to read, the pipe jaw insert is approximately 1/2" thick, 1-3/4" wide and 2-7/16" long. The depth of the pipe jaw at it's valley is 1-15/16".

Cheers,
Brian

That's great. Thanks very much for all the pics and measurements. It doesn't look too complicated. The toughest part would be filing to all those teeth and then hardening the steel.

Wow, thanks Brian. I just picked one up today without the pipe jaw and had my luckiest night of Googling thanks to you.
