Hi new member to the forum so hello. Looking for some information on a Record No 3 4" vise.

When the vise is closed to clamp an item and then released the jaws remain closed or jammed, to release the jaws usually requires tapping the slide or jaw. I think this may have been apart before so I'm nor sure of the spring and washer arrangement. Although the threads seem ok there is a suspect area towards the T bar on the unthreaded section, see photo, would this be the cause of jamming? If the threads are damaged where can I get a replacement in the Tyne and Wear area or UK.

Thanks for any assistance

There is supposed to be a coil spring, washer and a pin on that screw. Those are what holds the slide against the screw when you open.
Give me 5 mins and I do you a photo of the arrangement.

Thanks Dutchgray you have shown the assembly, I notice there is no step on your plain section of spindle this must be where mine is worn and jamming.

Appreciated
