Check it out. A 10” Toptul bench vise just sold on Ebay for well over $100,000. It is item number 254883671174.

Gotta be some kind of money laundering scheme or shady transfer of money. The 10 inch TOPTUL vise is called 10 inch because the maximum opening distance is 10 inches. It does not have 10 inch wide jaws. I couldn’t find any retailers in a couple of minutes of Google searching before I gave up. What is that…maybe a $500 vise?

Definitely something shady or some sort of Ebay glitch, look at their completed listings. More than 300 different items have sold recently for at least $100k US. We're talking tens of millions of dollars in recent sales for items that usually aren't worth more than $100 each.

"In tonights top story, an international money-laundering scheme is exposed by obsessive members of an internet tool forum when the sale of a mediocre bench vise was flagged as 'totally unreasonable'. One member is quoted as saying 'I just couldn't believe it. I mean, it wasn't even old American Iron'. Another member added 'What is that…maybe a $500 vise?'

A specialized division of nerds within the forum known only as 'The Vise Squad' were consulted and confirmed the excessive sale amount, which lead authorities to investigate the eBay storefront. A member of this group who chose to remain nameless added 'I'm just glad were were able to get to the bottom of this. The vise prices on the secondary market are high enough these days without adding artificially inflated sales to the mix. These Craigslist dreamers think they can get away with murder!'

More on this story at 11:00."

Maybe ebay doesn't look into these things too much when they are making approximately 15% on each sale.

Edit: 12.9% on the first $7500, 2.35% on the rest.

No different than the "Art Deals" or "Classic Car" sales among the wealthy to launder money or buy influence/access.
Stock options, Short selling, insider trading, etc.
