Welcome to Garage Journal.
Thats a fine old vise you found there. As to your question about how many… let me just say that some of us have more than we really “need”.

Where are you?? That's an old Record. Mounting holes are retained, the newer ones are slotted. I bought a 6" a while back (slotted holes) for $40 that had no jaws. I found some at Grainger for $28, if you need some. I had some screws that I could adapt.

Guess that makes mine old too. Found in an ES lot.

I’m near Amberley, in New Zealand. The vise has 25 stamped on the underside. But I think that does not mean much in terms of manufacturing year. ‘RECORD’ lettering is raised and the boss is straight rather than curved. Likely post-1955. Maybe 60s. $60 NZD. $36 USD. A fine, fine deal!

Some of those jaw screws are tough to remove. I use the appropriate driver bit and clamp it between the jaws, then turn it out with a wrench, backing off the clamping force as needed.

Thanks for the tip. That approach hadn't occurred to me. I held my breath and got them loose with a spade bit in a rattler, wondering how I would deal with a broken stub. All good. They off. Thanks again.
