I used the use rector number 5 but when I switched to tru blu, when I turn pressure up the air will blow pin holes in the sealant and hiss.
letting it cure overnight usually is more successful.

I took it all apart and use blue devil tape and 100% cure the problem there.
When I took it apart no tru blu sealant was on the threads, they just get pushed all out to form a ring on the outside.
BTW .. It makes a good thread locker though if cured.

For this reason I am also skeptical to use for water and plumbing, very time consuming to disassemble and do it twice.

I have never had problem with the number 5.

What am I doing wrong?

Directions say you can go immediately to service for air, natural gas, and water under 100 psi for 2" and smaller diameter, over 100 or larger diameter wait 24 hrs.

Also only apply to male threads, if under 1-1/4".

It is under 1" pipe.. I turn on immediately
Yes, crappy threads, pot metal outlet from air compressor "regulator" (I was installing a coupler on), I can barely see the threads.
The tape worked much better for this.

I shouldnt say this or Ill jinx myself, but Ive always had real good luck with Loctite 592 even with ****** threads. Messy product though. If you still have problems, maybe give it a try.
