Recycled Concrete or crushed Asphalt?

Getting ready to finish a pad in front of my shop, what’s everyone suggest to spread out front? Live in cold weather so will be plowed over every winter.

Ayuh,...... Recycled concrete acts exactly like crushed stone,.......

Ya grade it, compact it,... it lays there til ya scratch it up,.....

Milled asphalt, ya grade it, compact it, 'n it'll adhere to itself, 'n become a hard surface with the sun beating on it,.....
It takes alot more force to scratch it up,......

Don't ask.
3"-5" chunks of concrete make a good base, especially after compaction. Cover with 3/4" and finer stone for a top layer.
Asphalt millings can be a good top layer but I've only seen it used over an existing surface.

I have asphalt millings in the driveway and love them... no mud in the spring, and if it gets regular traffic when its hot... they tend to fuse back together... My drive has 10-20" of 21AA for base ... a couple loads of 2-3" crushed concrete ( which disappeared into the 21AA one spring) and then the asphalt... The asphalt has hung in there the longest...5-6 years , and is finally needing a freshen up this spring...good luck ! And I also live in the mitten... thumb to narrow it down..

It's all about doing right. If you throw down a piss coat over what is currently existing it won't last no matter the product. If you box it out, put down a geo fabric and put a good build up in with proper compaction it will last a good long time.

Recycled asphalt.

It packs better, snow clears faster and isn't a source of dust every time something crosses it.
