Things are finally coming together. Only waiting for the HVAC guy to come and finish installing the backup propane furnace and air intake ductwork. He has the heat pump/AC going now. Once he’s done, I’ll be ready to do a little touch-up painting and move in.

I did get my workbench built, stole the “toolbox bench” idea from other members here. We got some TVs hung up, even have the internet working! Just yesterday we ordered some furniture for the office.

Even though the shop isn’t done yet, been able to get some “temporary” use out of it.

We built my work’s homecoming parade float here, theme was “holidays”.

Also, our fire station is getting some work done to it, so I hosted our bi-monthly training here. Had to go buy the TVs in order for that to happen!

Do I see a future fire truck parked in one of the empty bays?
Ha, funny you should ask that. There won’t be one as a permanent fixture, but a temporary guest from time to time.

Two years ago we were made aware that our town’s fire engine from 1946 was parked in a junkyard about an hour away. We got it home and running, but it still needs some work, a clutch for sure. Only had 846 miles on it when we found it! Not many more than that now.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this thread. I’m all moved in and finally able to work “in” the shop instead of “on” the shop.

Check out the flag on the left of the TV, only 48 stars on that one, I found it in a different old house I bought a few years ago. Thought it deserved to be displayed.

Started a project a few weeks ago, picked up a different motor for my old Mustang. I’m going to try my hand at the “Coyote Swap” that I see so often. Hopefully I’m able to get all of the wires figured out and make the dang thing run. Early on in the project, haven’t even pulled the original engine yet.

Moving along on the “coyote swap” project. Have the old engine and transmission pulled, the new engine dressed up and ready to put in, and have a good start on the fuel system. Waiting for my new front suspension to come in so that I can get that all ready to set the engine into.

I’m not really very good about updating this thread. Finally have the outside of the shop finished up. Built a little retaining wall between my shed and the neighbor’s garage. It will help rainwater flow away from both of our buildings better than it had before. I also finally got some grass planted and have a pretty nice stand growing, hopefully it fills in some more next spring and doesn’t all die over the winter. Makes me pretty happy not to have a big crop of weeds.

Also been moving along on the Mustang. Finally…. Four months to the day, after I ordered my front suspension parts, I got them. I was able to piece the car together enough to get it outside and cleaned up while the motor was out. Just the other night I got the engine and transmission put in the car. A whole lot of wiring and plumbing to go, but the coyote motor looks like it belongs.

Garage and the Mustang look great. You should add a lift to your buy list, makes engine and trans swaps soo much easier. What ECU are you going to use to run the Coyote?

It sure would be easier to do if I had a lift, but I don’t really want to dedicate the space for it. We use the shed for family get togethers, kid’s birthday parties, etc. and it would be inconvenient to have a lift in there for those things.

I’m going to use a Ford ECU to run the Coyote. When I bought the engine, I got the entire drivetrain, so I had the computer and wiring harness from the 2017 Mustang. I did send them to a guy in Tennessee to slim down the harness and delete the anti-theft from the computer. He also made me a wiring harness so that my original gauges and a/c should all work with the new engine and transmission as well.

Thats awesome that you are going to have the harness tailored to your chassis, and yes, def get rid of the anti-theft. That Gen 2 Coyote is a nice engine, def better than Gen 1.

Looking great! My buddy (who moved out of our area a few years back), just posted a few pics of his 2001 Bullitt conversion. Also came out nice and like you, he did it all on the garage floor with no lift. It just seems like the best route for these cars.

Looks like his Coyote is going to be quite a bit more rowdy than mine with the big “air compressor” sitting on top of it. Maybe one day for mine, but I think naturally aspirated will be sufficient for my needs.

These 99-04 Mustangs are probably one of the easiest to swap. I didn’t really run into any issues with fitment, and it’s very well supported by aftermarket suppliers.

A group of us were all part of a Mustang club that leaned toward power and racing. The last combo in that car had a built original motor and a YSi. Made good power but never lived up to what he wanted it to be. I think this combo certainly will.

Moving towards the back end of the Mustang now. Have some subframe connectors welded in and working on the rear suspension now. Waiting for the pan-hard bar to show up before I put everything back together. Rear axle is at my mechanic’s shop getting different gears and new seals and bearings put in.

Should have this thing ready for the road when spring finally gets here.

I like the way you matched up the underside paint, they don't stand out as much.

I’ve tried pretty hard to make it look like everything I’ve put on the car came right from the factory.

I drove it into the garage as a 100% stock 1999 Mustang, when I drive it out, I kind of want it to look like the same thing. I used a lot of factory hoses and clamps with the engine swap, hid everything I could, and wrapped wires to look like they were original.

When I close the hood and the trunk, the only give-away that anything’s been done is the shiny wheels and shift knob.

My pile of parts is getting smaller and smaller. With the help of a friend, I got the rear axle bolted up this weekend, cleaned it up and painted it last weekend. All of the new suspension and brake parts fit up very well.

I’m still debating on whether or not to lower it down some more, I think it would look a little better if it was lower, but I don’t want to make it too low and have to worry every time I drive it.

The car moved under its own power today. Got the exhaust all put together today, it‘s a little louder than I’d prefer, but it’ll be ok. My wife even helped out bleeding the brakes today!

The engine tune needs a lot of work, and I need to work a little more on bleeding the brakes, but it sure is nice to be able to pull it out of the garage. I did make it all the way around the block with it.
