Red Iron door framing question

I am trying to get some doors hung on my red iron building. The door guy said I needed 5" or so to mount the door track. The frame oping is only 3". He wants me to mount a 2"X6" all around. I feel like over time the wood will deuterate. I was thinking has anybody ever bolted a 6" wide 1/4" thick flat steel to the door jamb. I was thinking maybe angle so it would be stronger but the way the opening is there would be nothing to mount the other side of angle, so would it really help. The picture showing the 3" is my building, the other showing the wood around the opening is what he sent me to do to my building. Any thought other than another door guy.

You could paint the wood on all sides with a quality outdoor oil based paint. Probably would then last longer than you.

3” should be no problem if he is using a track for a metal building. If he doesn’t know what that is then you need a new guy.

Is that liner panel I see in the picture? If so did you use flat metal for two feet above the door opening?

If i understand, I’d go welded angle frame. If it can be well secured.
I thought about welding it, but that white piece is trim, so the trim wouldn't fit back right unless i am thinking wrong on the orientation of the angle. The angle would have to be on the outside of the jamb.

I thought about this, what kind of wood would you use. I read that pressure treated wood has something in it that you shouldn't bolt it to metal. So, I guess just a regular 2 x 6. I am not promised anything, but I hope I can use it another 30 or 40 years.

He came out before he cut the doors and said no problem. Then when the doors get here, he said it is a problem. I think all red iron buildings are 3", so I didn't' understand the problem. I think you call it a reverse hinge or reverse mount. Yes, that is linear panel. He didn't say anything above the door.

As long as he has the right size door and the reverse angle track it should work fine. The weather strip is built into the track and a separate rubber closure goes at the top.

Twenty five years selling and erecting metal buildings tells me that he doesn’t know what to do or he ordered the wrong length doors and he is trying to get you to fix his mistake.
