Red iron vs hybrid truss building

Hey all , been looking at buildings for a new shop for a while and I just started to notice some of the company’s that sell these “ hybrid “ steel buildings, steel trusses with wood as the secondary framing. Anyone have any experience with these? Looking at some pros and cons of going one way or the other between a traditional red iron or a hybrid truss . Looking do build a 40x80x16 or something close to it . Thanks!

Where is this secondary wood framing you're seeing? Walls , ceiling, ...?
I have a red iron building and where the bathroom is it has a hybrid of sorts as the outer wall framing is filled in with wood.
The girts are omitted there and has wood.
The benefits are that your walls are not 12" thick like in some barndos where you have normal 8" steel girts and 2x4 framing inside that.
Basically you don't lose 8" of space inside.

O I see you're talking about trusses.
I'd rather have steel I-beams to make the roof.
Unless you want a ceiling with attic storage above.

Depends on what you need. I like red iron because I have it designed with a completely suspended loft (no posts) and a 1 ton overhead hoist on an I-beam traveler.

Yea that sounds appealing, mainly will be a shop to build cars and just general fab work / storage for cars and tractors

New build

New build - finally finished, and the overhead hoist My new (and last) shop is underway at our retirement home at the lake. 30x40x12 with a 6/12 pitch, 20x30 loft, and an I-beam for a one ton hoist and trolley. Windows across the back for a view of the lake.
