Hello everyone. I've been lurking on here. For some time and I'm finally getting around to doing my garage. Anyway, I plan on going with the standard white/grey walls with a red dividing stripe. I scored a bunch of race deck flooring for $1.00 a SF. It is black and white checkered with a red and black border. Have a cabinet guy who works for a reasonable price. I wanted to go with melamine since the finish is very durable. I want to do the cabinets in red, I think it would really tand out. I have been unable to find any sheets of red melamine. Is it even produced? If it is, any idea where I can get it? I really want to get going on this just need a point in the right direction. Thanks guys, Mike.

Go to a local cabinet shop and ask him to order it for you, I do it for people fairly often....if they are not total jerks I don't charge any mark up. Maybe you can get the same shop to cut, bore and band your pieces for you also.

A fabricator in my area glues any colored laminate to particle board, it will go a lot longer than any melamine, look at most commercial interiors or medical building fixtures, been going on for years, melamine is okay for interior cabinets surfaces but you want to go the extra mile on drawer front and doors, it is a lot cheaper than stainless.

The melamine sheets have a very thin melamine coating and don't hold up to well. For the cabinet it OK. If you can afford it I would at least make all the doors out of regular High desinty board and laminate them with red laminate. Its 2-3 times thicker.

I like the idea of the laminate. Where would I locate the laminate at?

Formica is a known brand name for laminate wilsonart is another, I would guess most of the big box stores like Lowes, Home Depot, Or Menards could order it for you. If I remember correctly it comes in sheets sizes like 3x5, 5x7, 4x9.

Those Ikea cabinets are very nice. What style are they? What could I expect to pay for those cabinets?
