Red Wire nut with exacto type blade- what is it

I was cleaning the shop and found this in a box of my Dad's tools. I did try to google it to see if I could find out more about it (without success) . It is the exact same size, shape and color of older red wire nuts and has a short exacto type blade molded into it and a plastic sheath over it.

I wonder if it was a novelty item that was given out like key chains or other trinkets at conventions or job shows, or does it have an actual use? I cannot find any identifying marks on it nor is there any advertising on it.

my guess is a knife that was included in something or some kind of a kit to open something in that kit.

I'm thinking maybe a gasket cutter? Stencil cutter?
