alright i just bought a 60k btu reddy heater at a local auction...its like brand new...But i got it home and i dont have any fuel but i plugged it up and turned switch on and bout 5 seconds the fan and stuff starts blowing then it stops.... is this what its suppose to do with no fuel, just running on fumes and shuts down? also i need a fuel cap for it, where could i get one?

and what is the best fuel for it and the safest? kerosene or the diesel?

Yes if it doesn't have fuel it is suppost to shut off. I run Kerosene in mine it burns cleaner. You should be able to order a cap though you local hardware store.
