Reddy heater question???

Hey all> Ive got this nice 50.000 BTU ready heater that was working fine. The started not starting> But here is tye catch. If i remove all six screws from the topof the heater and slide the lid off, Then plug it in. It starts right up, then i put the lid back on and put all six screws in and it works fine. Then to re start it i have to do that all over again. If i leave the ld on, only the fan comes on and ten i see te fuel come out the front and theen t trips off. Filters are clean, spark plug is new and it has spark. HELP!!!!!

When you take the lid off it has a lower air pressure so it will burn easier. How much smoke are you getting on startup. Fuel is a huge factor with these things. If I mix to much oil in with the diesel I have a lot of problems starting it. Or if you put gas in by mistake it won't burn very good. First thing to try is drain the tank into a can and put fresh diesel or kerosene in it and try again. Second thing is cjack you air bleed screw on the back. If your nose cone is barely glowing turn the screw clockwise until flames start coming around the cone. When the cone starts glowing back screw off until the flames aren't coming around the cone anymore and that should be about optimum setting.

i have fresh kerosene in it and the nose cone is a nice red when its running. Not too red but not dark either. I have messed with the settings and it does not make a differece. Its almost like the fan is blowing to much air on the fuel mix and not allowing it to ignite, hense it starting right up without the lid on it.

I will get lots of smoke just befor it clicks off. But get this. i put two strips of masking tape on the bacl fan cover, restrickting the air flow going in, and now it starts right up every time with no problems. Even thow i know its still not the correct fix, it does work fine that way. What does ths mean? is getting tomuch air into it some how, or dos it mean its not getting enough fuel. Like im useing a choke on it to start it.

the only thing that i can think of is take the injector nozzle out and clean the gunk off it and soak in in carb cleaner. Then check your spark power

Makes sense. Either your nozzle is dirty, your nozzle is worn out, or your pressure is off.
