Reddy heater question

I want to buy a torpedo heater for my shop\garage. A buddy of mine brought over his Reddy a couple weeks ago and it worked great. My Dad has a Reddy as well, so I figure I'll go out and buy a Reddy.

But I can't find them anywhere local. Anyone know of a national chain, or a local place in Seattle that sells them? Also, searching for the company doesn't give me anything...are they still around?

I can go down to Home Depot or Lowes and get whatever they're selling, and there's a couple used Reddy's at some pawn shops around here, but I'd rather get a new Reddy with a seller that will back it instead of a pawn shop.

Suggestions? Safe to buy from the pawn shop (seems like a good deal, 170k model for $265)? HD or Lowes alternatives ok?

Thanks Red Green - I saw that site but was a bit confused by it. I didn't know if that was the Reddy company or just a reseller with the domain name. When I clicked on the links to the heaters they were Master branded. As long as I can get parts for the Reddy I think I'll go that route.

I found a local place selling Reddy Heaters and they were having a good sale. The website on the box was reddyheat.com. When I go to that site it looks like someone got the domain.

Is Reddy going or out of business?

One manufacturer rebrands those heaters under quite a few different names. It really won't matter, odds are, you will never need to do anything to it, except change the foam air filter on the inlet to the air pump used to siphon fuel from the tank. I use Briggs and Stratton filters cut to shape. Mine is a Koehring but all are made by the DESA International.

# Reddy
# Master
# Koehring
# Knipco
# Amoco
# John Deere
# Dayton
# Queen Bee
# Co-op
# and many private label brands

This company seems to know more about them than anyone.......................

While they are supposed to be able to run on diesel fuel (and they do) it stinks. Clear Kerosene (K1) which many hardwares and family convenience stores keep a 500 gallon tank of K1, or if there is an airport nearby, call and price Jet A, it is simply Kerosene with additives and burns well in the heater. I used "sump fuel" from the airport fuel trucks for years with never a problem.
