Why is the links posted in the forum use this service? Is this site wide or do I have a problem on my end? My security tools in android started blocking this. Is it built into the site or just the app. The latest app seems to use many malware links for advertising. Could be a issue with that.

redirect.viglink.com is a legitimate advertising network that claims to help developers generate traffic for their websites, however, cyber criminals also use this network to promote their (potentially malicious) sites. They often use potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) for this purpose.Sep 19, 2018

VigLink is what GJ uses to convert outbound links into affiliate links to earn money for the site. It's probably a big part of why you don't see massive side bar ads, top bar ads, and pop ups all over this forum. Pretty standard practice. If you click the link and it doesn't take you to the page it was supposed to it's likely a bug in VigLink or the setup.

Example:
User posts an Amazon link to a product. When it gets clicked, instead of going straight to Amazon it goes through VigLink to add the GJ affiliate code to it and then should end up at the correct Amazon link imperceptibly to the user who clicked the link. The only real difference is there's an affiliate code in the Amazon URL so if you buy any items GJ gets a portion of the sale for sending you there.

Why would you opt out? It’s literally how this place stays afloat.

It’s invisible too. And has nothing to do with any malware problems you are having. All it does is affiliate the links on the site. In turn, I make money when folks use those links to buy something.

My security blocks it I will try to find a way to whitelist it just for this app but the gj app is riddled with click bait mal ware that is getting blocked left and right. Not sure how come they can't use legit ads. Got the app to finally load without play services but notifications are still broken.

Edit: one more thing is those links get stripped out if anyone on mobile uses the Amazon app. The links do not get opened in Amazon app by default just a browser. If I am to buy something I will buy from Amazon app not a browser. So either way I have to open Amazon to buy and the affiliate link is no longer there.

They don't work for me. I get a 404 page. Probably some security setting blocking them. I have to figure out what site the poster is talking about and figure out where it is manually. Don't want to bypass the possible money for the forum, but it doesn't seem like I can avoid it.
