Just completed a Becker Solitude 1953 for a MB 170A cabriolet. Among 200 other things, the volume control pot with a pull switch for ON was destroyed. Long shaft, 58 mm 1 MOhm log with switch, which is hard to find. Scored two NOS, both were bad. Bought a hiQ CTS pot , but shaft was only 12 mm long. And I do not have a lathe to turn an extension shaft. The NOS came in! Ripped the brass shaft bearing off of it. Slipped it over the pot shaft and used part of the NOS shaft cut to length as extension. Drilled 2 mm holes in both and inserted 2 mm brass pins, soldered in place.
The best part is the wooden front panel of the radio, matching the MB dash board, which totally covers my shadetree radio shop work!
