Redoing my shop, all help appreciated.

Ok, so over the past few months i have been working on my shop when i can. a few pictures from where i started to where it is now. But starting this week i am going to start the walls and insulation. I bought some bulk left over pole barn insulation, the kind with foil on one side then fiberglass on the other. Since my building is already constructed, what is the best way to put the insulation up? Cut it to fit, then staple/nail it? All help will be appreciated. I plan to drywall over it, or i am open to other ideas.

Where's this located? Temperature variations will drive insulation needs. Do you plan on working in the garage during winter & summer, and how about heating and cooling?

What electrical service do you have here? Air compressor? Other shop power tools, like drill press, lathe & welding rig?

Its in Oklahoma City. I will be working out there sometimes, its more of just a place to keep my cars. Will have air compressor and a lift. No Heating or Cooling as of now. i have a breaker box already in the shop, with the normal plugs etc..

Awesome ride, first off. Just helped my buddy from TX put a new clutch and flywheel in his 97 single turbo. Definitely a blast to drive! So far its looking good! I would at least rough in some electric boxes before you insulate so you have an idea where you want to go with it.

Thanks guys. The floor is actually padded. They tore it out of the dealership i work at. So i layed claim to it.. I really like it! Any pointers on how to attach the insulation?

You said you were going to put up drywall when done so you will want to have studs to anchor to. You could cut the insulation to fit between said studs and cover it. What's the plan for insulating the roof?

Consider nailers every 16 or 24 inches perpendicular to the attic trusses. Screw your drywall to that. Ventilate the attic space and don't block off the vents. When (if) you are ready to insulate, put a vapor barrier towards the inside face and consider blown in insulation.

For the walls, if you want drywall you will need the 16 or 24 inch spacing to hold the drywall. You could use 2 by 4s for this, and how you do it will determine how to insulate later.

If you are going to insulate, it is a very good idea to make the building as air tight as possible where outside air can't get to the conditioned space. It depends on your end uses. I live in Florida, so I air condition to make it bearable.

I'm interested in the floor. What is it made of and how is it padded?

BTW...nice garage or pole building. You will need studs to fasten drywall to or you will have to run stringers across the poles at 16" intervals horizontally. Your insulation will go behind that. What is the size of your insulation now as far as width, height, and thickness?

And details on the floor!!!!

Thanks for the info guys.. My guy putting up the insulation said not to put plastic up between the metal wall and the fiberglass, bc it will lock any moisture in and cause mold over time. Is that correct? I will post more about the floor tonight. I have zero clue what it is, but i like it! I have some extra pieces i will post pics of.

We will be putting up walls in the days to come, what do you guys suggest. Drywall or OSB board? Pro's and cons please. Thanks again!

You want the outside of the wall to breath.
Plastic would go on the inside.

I like metal liner panels for the inside.

You don't want warm moist air on the inside getting through to the insulation and/or inside face of the outside wood so you put the vapour barrier on the inside of the insulation.

Also interested in the floor, looks like carpet tiles?

For walls, if you want fire-resistance then go for drywall. If you want cheap and functional go for OSB. Personally I like ply but due to cost will probably go with OSB. some people use a combination of drywall over OSB/Ply.
