I'm restoring a Reed 103-N that I found in my fathers garage after he passed away last month. Does anyone know the approx age of this vise? There is also a Reed 403 1/2 R vise that is on his bench that I'd really like to fix up and put on a stand. That was his personal vise that he used for many years. Any info on either vise would be greatly appreciated.

See the light stamp above the first E in Erie? Kind of looks like last 2 digits are 72. That will be your date code. There should be a corresponding stamp on the same side of the moving jaw.

Your other Reed should have a similar date stamp on it, too.

Yes, I see that stamp, its 872. What year does that correspond to? Sorry if I don't know what I'm taking about, this is my first crack at vise restoration. Thank you for your help.
