Incredible. I'm going to be watching with interest.

Thanks ftb,
Made a little more headway today.
Column beam fit up and welded out.
Vise mounting plate cut, bored and nuts tacked to backside.
Base, column and mounting plate welded.
Thinking I may make a parts tray for it, we'll see.

Another thing of beauty Royce. Those are big radius's bud, bet they were fun to man handle around before you cut them up.

Royce, I like it. Plus you are using the one Reed missing from my collection. I really like how it tilts towards the front. Can tell you use vises. Just love your work.
Kevin

Thanks Kevin,
This could very well be the perfect vise for me.
Not too big and not too small.
I'm going to make a nuts and bolts tray for it and a rack to hold lay out tools and a few tools I use frequently at the vise.

Royce,

Looking good - I enjoy following your work. Can't wait to see the finished result.

I picked up this the other day

IMG_2373.jpg

Have to decide where it will reside, at 130+ lbs I've wondered about the physics of an angled stand. Any idea what your stand will weigh vs your vise?

Thanks BFH,
That is a beauty you found in that 106.
This 105 is around 75#
The stand is around 100#, with the ability to add weight under the base if desired.
The rear jaw is set back about 4" from the front edge of the base.
With that said, I can open the vise fully and put 250# on the front jaw and it just begins to get unstable.
I feel any big vise is best hiltied to the floor, if a man can figure out where he wants it.
My problem is I can't!
