I posted in the monster vise thread that I picked up a Reed 203R last week. I electro-bathed it, wire brushed it, and sprayed it with Extend Rust converter. I saw Tool_Scrounge's thread on a 203R and I liked the natural finish.

I mentioned in the other thread that the base had been welded in a couple of places. I can live with that as it appears to be a good weld and this is going to be a user and not a show piece. Unlike the vise that Tool_Scrounge has, this one has good serrations. The body of the vise has seen some use, but it's still a stout little vise with many years left in it.

It had 3 coats of paint on it. Latex red on top, then yellow and finally, I think the original was haze gray. Any reddish discoloration you see on the vise now is just anti-sieze that I use to lube the swivel base and screw threads.

What a great effort! I actually snapped back when I hit the After photos. Great job cleaning up all the Technicolor. Now it looks quite proper. Vise pie for you tonight!
