Reed C1 Vice Help With Date?

I couldn't find my posting from yesterday so I started another one.
The C1 I have needs work but I think it will clean up OK for my use.
I am very curious that with other pictures i have seen with the patent numbers, what about pat pending? Anyone have some ideas?

It's a flat-nose with screw-in jaws so it's actually one of the latest models...
