Reed NO.32 restore start.

I picked this today at a barn sale. Asked the guy if he had a vise for sale. He said I have an old one in back of barn. He pulled this out and wound up paying $20 bucks for it. Gave it a quick wash. Will break it down and run it in a electrolysis bath. Just need to upgrade from my 5 gallon bucket. This thing is big. I will update the process as I go. May take a while. Just something to fiddle with. Only thing missing is the wing nut.

Nice score! That evolved into the Reed 2C vise. Looks like the pipe jaws are missing?

Well I didn't go all out on this one. It is going to be a beater on a post outside. The handle was beyond repair. Not looking to put any cash into it. Solution was a 3/4 inch drill rod with collars. I put a couple grommets on it to. Good news is it is all cleaned up and tight n smooth. Everything works well. Pics to follow.

No pipe jaws on it. If I come across some cheap I will add them.

Ruger: it looks pretty damn good for a beater vise now. did you change your mind or is it still going to sit outside? one of our members IronHorseMachinery just posted a Reed #32 that has the pipe jaws so you can see what your vise would look like with some. he might give you measurements if you ask him for them so you can make your own.

another addition to your vise that came from the factory is the big wing nut that tightens the vise to the bench from underneath it.

here's a picture of mine that is a little smaller and a Reed #31.
