Reed vice original color

So Im guessing the original color was red on this old vice as the rust removal is getting down to the red paint in the letters.

Red paint on letters body etc. black.
Thereis a thread dedicated to Reed vises. (Dating) You'll maybe able to pick up some tips.

Thanks for your reply. I was looking for the original color so that it would be historically correct. I am still searching.

Following this thread. Please keep us posted on your search for the original color configuration. I just found traces of red on my 203 1/2 Reed vise. But of course it’s hard to tell whether the whole thing was red or just the letters.
