Picked up a hose reel yesterday at the swap meet. Made by Aro, seems to be in pretty good shape.

I'm going through it before installing it and need to find some washers and I don't know what they're called. Located on the hollow bolt that carries the water from the reel to the hose, and they go on the shaft adjacent to the orings, which I assume I can find at the hardware store.

These washers are made of plastic and are constructed in a way that allos them to be installed in the recesses- sort of like a split ring on which you'd keep keys. I've included an image. Appears they are there to shim the oring. Maybe I can use a couple copper washers cut into "c" shapes and grease to remain in place during installation. You can see from the image one appears OK the other has broken.

Anyone found a parts source for ARO equipment? Can seem to find one- appears they are now part of ingersol-rand.

In the hydraulics world those are called backup rings. The PDF above has some information and though they allude to spiral ones I can't see where they break out the part number for a spiral. I would suggest you do a bit more googling now that you know the name or if you have a power transmission or hydraulics shop nearby talk with them. I only grabbed the first link That came up when I googled. There are many more companys out there that should have these.

The above were found with the search term: spiral backup ring

You might go directly to IR. Check the last page here: http://www.ingersollrandproducts.com/_downloads/lit/Lubrication_Equipment_Catalog.pdf

Checking back in to say THANK YOU! Based on your post, I went to a hydraulic place (which I never would have though of) and they ordered what I need. Should be here tomorrow.

This is exactly why forums exist.

Thanks again.
