refinishing concrete floor

I have looked around lately in hopes of renting a concrete sander to resurface my weathered floor and epoxy it. I have had no luck. I did however bump into one of the local guys who pour concrete. He said he could scim over the top of the existing floor with cement and make it look like new. Question time....If I had him do this...the floor does have some cracks and pits in it....would the new layer hold up? I would eventually like to install a lift...would this thin layer crack under its weight? Dont flame me for stupid questions...thanks.

why not ask your local guy. im sure hed want to be honest with you (local guys usually are they want to keep their good name). hed probably know the best way to go about what your future plans are.
