I did a DIY epoxy floor in my 3 car shop 5 years ago. Used the Home Depot Epoxyshield with shark skin grip mixed in. I didn't use the color flake because it's a working race car shop and I like the light reflection of the pure light grey as well as I figured it would be easer to lose small parts in the flake pattern. The andi-slip shark tooth stuff worked great.
The floor looked great for about 2 weeks, then I painted... overspray everywhere. It cleaned up a some with lacquer thinner, but the pristine floor was no longer perfect. Over the next 5 years it continued to get more stained... fiberglass resin drips, various oils, paints, lacquer thinner to clean up, brake clean, etc. It's a patch mess. And in a few small spots it chipped or flaked up. One time I rented a floor buffer with various grits buffing pads. I thought it would buff out the junk on the epoxy bit it really didn't do much.
I've been thinking about refreshing the floor. I think I'll need to use a big sander or grinder since it's already got epoxy down. Debating doing it myself or paying someone.
In my research I saw something about wax. Would this be useful in my situation? Like if I regularly use floor wax... would overspray, glues, resin drips, etc. end up on top of the wax and easier to buff out?
Thanks,
Sal
