Refund from eBay

A different kind of refund that is. Just checked my email and found that the seller who I recently purchased a set of Snap On left hand drill bits from was able to ship them first class cheaper than quoted. He refunded me $3.25. Obviously he didn't have to do that. Just thought that was pretty cool and it shows there are still honest people/sellers on eBay.

I once rated shipping charges as not-that-reasonable (maybe 2 or 3 stars or something?) and the seller refunded me a portion of the shipping. I believe I was ordering clear polycarbonate and the seller was something like "pop up displays."

I just bought a seemingly expensive Gear Vendors adapter from a guy. Whatever, those thing are always damn expensive, and I sold the one I didn't need for almost as much. It showed up in an FRB including a bag with a note that says "I didn't think it would fit a flat rate box, you saved $23." and had $23 in cash in a bag.

Keep in mind we ship out hundreds of order's a day so we always tell our customer's if you think we forgot you PLEASE let us know. We are always happy to double check. Through eBay we offer combined shipping so you NEVER have to overpay but if there is excess shipping we refund. We take phone order's as well where the items are pulled FIRST to get the actual shipping cost so you're only charged exactly what the shipping is. I ordered a reproduction vintage tin advertising sign for my wife. When I tossed the box in the trash it sounded funny, so I looked and saw a second sign. I notified the seller and he said he thought the shipping cost was too high and threw in a second sign to compensate.

It's my expectation, based on years of experience, that shipping on eBay shouldn't be a profit center. IOW, the lowest possible S&H attract bidders/buyers. Higher S&H deters bidders/buyers.

I've had sellers refund even a couple $$ overage (hardly seemed worth the trouble) and I've been called EVIL because I left negative feedback for a seller who wouldn't refund combined shipping exce$$ on multiple lot Buy-It-Nows w/ Free Shipping. Seller got neg FB and lost at least one customer.

I've never sent a "Thank You" note for a shipping refund. That's what feedback is for. I've also never received a "Thank You" note for paying with 100% Legal Tender. Never ≤99.99%. 100% Legal Tender every time.

From a seller's point of view: We pay fee's based on the FULL dollar amount customer's pay. So even those who don't request combined shipping and just expect to be refunded we actually lose money refunding you. Please keep this in mind. We have instructions in every single listing because we don't want anyone to overpay if they don't have to. Of course, we do still refund customer's but will always ask them to let us know in the future before paying so we can adjust their shipping.

Many item descriptions are grossly inaccurate.

It only seems fair to me that buyers be able to pay for falsely described purchases with a random combination of slugs, foreign, obsolete and counterfeit currencies. Turnabout is fair play.

Maybe 5 or 10 years ago that happened. eBay is pretty good these days.

I've purchased a lot of stuff off eBay within the past few years, more than you'd believe, and I've never been ripped off. I had a few items go missing during shipping due to poor packaging and one instance where a seller tried to beat me out of my money after he found out shipping was more than quoted. With that said, I've been refunded every time. I've purchased at least 3 used different air tools from different sellers, but each time I made sure to ask all the important questions before purchasing. This way, if things weren't as described and the seller would not refund me, I had saved messages proving the seller misinformed me. Then I would contact eBay and get a full refund from them. Such as the case with the seller who tried to beat me.
