Refurbing tool boxes indoors

Suggestions / ideas on keeping sanding, grinding metal waste dust / rust from spreading all over while working indoors ( in basement ). Thinking about a box fan with furnace filter on it that would be behind sanding area. Pulling dust into filter. Have a few tool box projects that I would like to complete. Working outdoors is not possible due to winter weather. Have a 3 inch furnace vent (not in use) I could tap into. Thanks, Johnny Generic.

enclose a smaller area to work in. put a fan into the drier vent to create a vacuum so the dust stays inside your enclosed area

How much work are you going to be doing on a toolbox that needs metal ground? It's not like you're restoring a car. Just make sure you sweep the floor afterwards so you don't drag the dust upstairs? No need to go overboard. When you grind, just grind towards a box or a wall to keep everything in one area.

Does your sander have a dust collection bag, or provisions to hook it up to a vacuum? These things won't eliminate the dust but will certainly help.
