hrmm i'm not sure if i'm nuts or this is normal...

It's a 60 gallon, new parker regulator/filter, if i pump the tank then turn on my cutoff the regulator bleeds off the tank (thru the reg holes) till the set pressure.

i could have sworn my little compressors don't do this..

I did have to dissemble it to spin it on the plumbing, looks pretty simple inside, figured before i putz with this more i'd make sure it's not normal =/ THANKS!

i'm thinking you've got something wrong, inlet line pres. should stay at what ever the compressor shut off switch is set at. the regulator should bleed pres. from the out let side to what ever the regulator is set at. could you have it backwards compressor air going into the out let side of the regulator ?

Hi Badsix,

yeah that was my initial thought too, i've double checked and I installed it with the arrow on the regulator going with the direction of air flow..(which i think is correct?).

so tank -> regulator/arrow -> outlet

I'll probably take the reg apart again in a bit again and see if there's something obvious i'm missing or did wrong..

I'm not clear what you mean by turning off the cutoff? Or how your system is set up but you may try googling the difference between a relieving regulator and a non-relieving regulator. I suspect that you may have a relieving regulator that is leaking allowing the down stream pressure to build and the relieving port is venting the excess down stream pressure to atmosphere as it should.

no neat sig line

Hi Larry_g and all, thanks for the reply, just 5 minutes ago after scratching my head over this thing and not finding a large diagram on the web, i remembered i had a parker regulator before switching to this reg/filter! same prep-air II model just no filter...

...i took it apart and could see what was wrong. Just a seal was not seated in the right place, working good now!
