Regulator/Filter

The regulator on my little 26 gallon tank has stopped releasing air when I dial back the pressure...I think it's time for a new regulator and might as well get a filter at the same time. I currently only have 1/4" fittings but am eventually going to pipe in 1/2" around my garage and upgrade my compressor to a 2 stage 175psi one, so thinking I should get a decent quality regulator/filter now.

Suggestions on what to get? I am sort of partial to ingersoll rand but open to suggestions.

Search for the recent IR Outlet thread that ran in the last two weeks. There are still some smaller filter/regulator piggybacks available as of yesterday. Cheap too.

Impacts, die grinders, etc. No paint or plans to ever paint.

I'm going to jump in. Can someone recommend a filter or a couple filters off the above site? Or something else if nothing from IR outlet suits the bill. Would like to use various air tools (small impact, air gun, inflate tires) and then do a little painting here and there--stuff the size of a single body panel only.

Current setup is a Speedaire 2z630c "5hp" 60gal 125psi max that delivers 10cfm at 90 with 1/4 inch outlets for small stuff and 3/8 for bigger stuff.

Before you throw away that regulator, take off the bonnet and check to see if the center hole in the diaphragm is blocked. Most small regulators piss air out there when you reduce the set pressure with the regulator "dead ended"

I switched to a 1/2" regulator to keep ahead of paint guns, etc. A 1/4" size was just too small.

How do you take off the bonnet? What is the bonnet?

Figured out how to get the knob off of it, there was a tiny tiny set screw that was covered in dirt. Took the thing apart and found an o-ring that had got squished and was blocking the hole for the air to drain, replaced it, all good again. I had gotten a replacement a couple years ago because it was leaking, took it apart and replaced its o-ring too so now I even have a working spare.

I just saw the IR site and ordered 4 for myself. One for each drop I have and a spare incase I add another drop one day. I got 2 piggyback style and two of the double filter style to use with paint guns and plasma cutter

I wanted somethinh off the sherlf,was in a hurry last time I did one for an out building and used a deal from Menards that worked pretty well. Threw the oiler away but it was all 1/2 and simple. I used some HF and it was 1/2 for service truck, I got some with 1/4 ports too, works good.
