Made these two relief carvings yesterday and today mostly shaped and textured with a chainsaw die grinder was used for some detail work mainly the eyes.

After that it gets burned with a torch flap sanded and finished the large one with the single eagle I think has too much paint I prefer a more antique finish

Always amazes me the beautiful pieces you guys create from a log and a chainsaw! Hell I can't even draw a good stick figure.

I have a ladyfriend that's into Stained Glass and glass blowing. A few years ago during a road trip thruout Oregon, we stopped at a glass studio. It was interesting to watch that Art as well, plus she got to participate.

After an hour or so I told her I was going for a walk, she just smiled. We passed a chainsaw artist just down the road. I spent the next few hours taking to and watching this guy create. Fun day for both of us!

Nice work Brian!

With the Internet its getting easy to share ideas there are several chainsaw carving forums to find info and tips, a few are a bit rough around the edges good to have a thick skin.

I used to attend a great gathering in Ridgway PA in February 200 carvers or more from all around the world meet every year, I may try to make it again this year.
