This ought to be easy, but I don't know the code and want to it right the first time.
I'm installing a gas fireplace. I've got to build a frame to mount it. The newly built frame will be dry walled and totally enclosed. Right now, there is an electric outlet dead center behind where the gas fireplace will mount. I need to move it over about 18". The new outlet will power the gas fireplace fan and probably be hardwired. It will be inside the framed fireplace surround and not accessible once the fireplace is built in.
Since it will be totally covered, I would run Romex from the old box to the new one mounted either on the now enclosed wall or on one of the 2x4s on the frame. Would this pass the "rough in" inspection?
If not, what would I need to do to pass?
Thank you in advance for your help
