Hello everybody.
Any one.... Who can help me with my Remington File Cabinet? Drawer is half open and can not go full open or close. A gear Is not straight in line but slightly out of ... line. Kast1 .... cabinet 1 is correct. The other pictures are from my cabinet. Please help me. Till later. Thanks in advance John Paul.

The right gear almost not to see and the wrong gear .... out of line and to see..
Last one is gear to see and not in line. Seems that the outer slider has gone to far out. How to get it back?
Also like to know how old this cabinet is.
Kind regards, John Paul.

I have no clue what is wrong with it. If I was spitballing here I would say it probably needs drawer slides.

That said, I expect you need to empty the drawer and remove it to work on it.

First of all empty that drawer. Remove all the files. With all the weight off it, see if you can get the slide back together.

Since, as you say, it is wedged in there, and you have little to no knowledge of what the problem could be, I would remove another drawer. It would allow me to inspect the drawer slides and mechanism and give me an understanding of how the set up works. Knowing that would give me an idea of if I could/should use force or might need to use some destructive method on the slide.

Once you get it apart - something to look for - some drawers have a tab protruding from one of the slides or the drawer or the cabinet that prevents the other slide from extending too far. If that tab is bent or broken, it can do just as you say, keep the drawer from moving. Unload the drawer above the bad one, and remove it - paying close attention to where the release latches are. This should allow you to move the bad one around enough to see what's up with the tab. Having the drawer above out will give you lots of room to move the bad drawer around, and get your head in to where you can see what's happening better.
On my older units, I leared early on to disassemble a new-to-me file cabinet, clean and grease the slides and rollers. Let the nay sayers say nay - grease can trap dirt and stuff, but it's still better than dealing with rust and stuff.
Good luck!

Here is te drawer above removed. The left side rail part is the same part out as above without drawer. Right side without is full out. With drawer right side is half out. Tommorow I get a 3mm welding wire to push it in and see what happens. Remington Made safe files quality :)
laterrrr folks !
