I installed some remodel can lights in my house. I was wondering if I am required to strap the wiring to anything or if I can simply leave them lay on the trusses? I started just going from light to light with the wire actually suspended in the air due to its unflexability. Is this ok? The attic is not used for anything, and doesnt have a ladder going to it. Im going to blow insulation in.

actually now that i think of it. I have to leave these unstrapped because in order to remove them, they need to have slack to be able to pull down.

The cable dosen't necessarily need to be stapled in this situation, but it can't run mid air between fixtures!A good rule of thumb is to use a length about twice as long as the distance between lights, and keep the wire between the chords, not on top of them as much as possible.

You "should" use armor cable for applications where the wiring cannot be attached to the studs in such a way to avoid being damaged... in the real world? eh... there's a lot of "gray area" when it comes to what is "allowed" to be done in a remodel and what is "has" to be done when subject to an electrical inspector's review and sign-off.
