The remodeling of my 5’ x 12’ laundry room is going well, but I have a couple of more questions. The lighting circuit includes two outdoor (60W each), an indoor fluorescent light (50W), an indoor receptacle a receptacle for the door bell transformer, and a (GFI) receptacle for the porch. My questions:

--Will the fluorescent light cause any RFI interference if I connect a TV to the receptacle on the porch?

--Currently the transformer is mounted on the wall to a work box. Is there a way I can get it out of the way? How about putting it inside a workbox that’s nailed to a stud? I’d cover it w/ a galvanized plate so I could access it, but I don’t know if it would generate any heat and cause a problem.

Thanks,

Anyone have any ideas how to properly and safely conceal a small
door bell transformer? Right now it's attached to the wall on the outside of a work box, but I'd like to find a way to get it out of sight.

Thanks,

I did electrical work for over a year. When we ran doorbells we always ran the low voltage wire from the door to the utility area of the basement, with a loop up to where you want to mount the chime box. Then you mount a handy box on a joist and feed it from somewhere. The transformers are a very low draw and the ones we used were made to mount to a handy box without any extra connectors. Wire nuts and a blank plate and it's done.
Does this sound feasible? You haven't said so but I get the impression your laundry room is a concrete slab.

The transformer HAS to be in open air, so no you can't stuff it in the wall or in a box like you are thinking of doing.

You could mount it somewhere else though like in a closet or in the basement/crawlspace.

Harm/Nate: Thanks for your comments. The transformer is currently mounted to a metal work box that's nailed to a stud. I was hoping to find a way to get it out of sight. However, I recognize it throws off a little heat, so I guess I can put it the corner of the room, near the ceiling.
