Remote Control Light?

My wife just presented me with a great idea......

Her car has 2 remote control buttons that will learn the code for a remote control.....the intent is for garage door openers.

So...her question was....can we have a stand-alone light be turned on by the buttons in her car?

I think it's a great idea.....time to do some searching while I wait to hear back from you guys.

yes, many garage door openers have that option. Maybe use the same transmitter to operate a lamp in the house. ( see what your garage door opener offers.. So if you have a mulitbutton garage door transmitter, , you can also train your car to operate the other button.

You need to find out what system the remote is designed to work with.

What brand is your existing GDO??

If you don't have one you would have to start with a remote to be learned into the car transmitter. Then you would have to make sure that that brand of GDO manufacturer has remote light modules.

Check out the 825LM. You would have to also purchase a Security+ 2.0 remote to program your vehicle, IF the vehicle is compatible with the security+ 2.0 code.

I have something like that. Three fittings plug into the power point and the remote has six buttons. Off and on for each fitting.
Looks something like this >

You plug the itme you want into the control box then the box into the power point and the remote switch allows you to turn on or off the items via the remote. I find it great at night with small LED lights at floor level.

I don't want to use the garage door opener.....

My wife's car has a 2 button built in remote that will 'learn' the code of a typical garage door opener (but not ours since it's a code hoping model).

What I want is a module I can plug into an outside light that can be remotely controlled....I'm assuming I have to buy one with the remote included....then use that remote to 'teach' the car...

It seems like most cars I've been in recently (mostly rental cars) have those dedicated garage door buttons.. Sounds like you want something that's an external lighting fixture that you can control remotely. I did some searching online and found their's devices out there that you can add to socket devices, but that still doesn't solve the problem described because that would involve using a seperate remote, plus you would have to have it plugging into a plug socket, which I know on my house, that's not really the case because most exterior lighting is hard wired.
