I'm looking for an outdoor flood light for my driveway. I live out in the sticks and my girlfriend has problems finding the driveway. I have a flood light that shines down the driveway (she likes to leave on all the time) and it's about 350' from the road. I'm looking to replace or make the current light remote controlled, idea being she can hit the switch when she gets to the end of the driveway and voila ...lol

So long story short.... remote control flood light, don't need motion sensor have a few around house already, any recommendations??

Cant imagine that she'd pull into the driveway, stop, fumble around for a "switch" and then proceed down the drive....but...

I see a technical issue or two here...
First, I dont know of anything that's bluetooth, or wifi, etc...that will cover 350 feet reliably. Same problem in reverse when she's by the house going out the driveway.
If I HAD to make this work, I'd go with a wifi control of the existing light and a geo-fence app on her phone so that the lights would automatically turn on when she gets a certain distance away.

Not sure what living in the "sticks" means...

If you have internet access at home, just install a WIFI smart switch for those sensor lights... and you won't have to change anything else .. range wise it's pretty good. dependents on the wifi device to the router and your cell phone reception. The motion sensor lights by default will turn on for about 5 minutes before shutting off when you first power it up. I have that in my driveway powering two flood lights and it is acts as timer as well..

If you don't then get a remote light switch or remote relay... just not sure about the range of those things... Ebay have a lot of them.. but nothing a packaged solution.

Dependents on your situation and electrical knowledge, you can also install another sensor head closer to the road that works in parallel with the current one?

Wow. Are you new at the "girlfriend thing" or just better at picking one?

Add a solar powered path light every four months. ( They fail at about that rate.) Try to make it look like each one is a bouquet of flowers just for her. Build one that looks like her favorite animal or reminds her of that special weekend at the beach.

Just add a photo cell or leave the damn thing on. When I think back over all the innocent, off hand remarks and actions that have set off the women in my life . . .

Put a reflector or some sort of marker that sticks up 4' on either side of the driveway. Works wonders when everything is covered in snow and you can't tell where the driveway is.

Some garage door openers have contacts to wire in a external relay for lighting so that when you open the a garage door the lights turn on.
