remote switch?

I have a situation where I have a ceiling light, using a pull chain on/off. I really want to put a 'normal' light switch in but it will be almost impossible to route the hot from the light fixture to a switch.

Years ago it seems I remember x10 being able to do this. I guess with a battery transmitter in the switch box controlling a relay in the fixture?

Any better ways of doing this now-a-days?

If you can not run a cable your only option is with one of those wireless switches. There are a number of companies that make them now.

What use does this room get?
What wall finish?

SmartHome Insteon.

The wireless switch mounts to the wall with a regular switch plate, and a module goes in the light/ceiling box. Or you could just screw in the Insteon light bulb.
