I am looking to control my garage door opener via a WIFI remote momentary contact switch. I know garage door companies make there but something like this is a bit more inexpensive. https://a.co/d/4um0HsP module

What has me stumped is this. I would like to have this module located next to the wired button that opens the door. I can supply external power to the module. But wiring this in has me a bit stumped. I keep reading, "Wire it in parallel" I get that but the door opener does have some low voltage power runnning to it.

a) Not sure if I could use this power to run the module. Don't think so.
b) Assuming I use external power how to I wire it into the wall button circuit?

Anyone have a picture? Done this yourself?

The switch wiring is just showing a change in state, more than likely a closure. You could verify with a meter on the existing switch or even just touch the two wires together. If the door activates, you have your answer. Wiring the external module would look like this. Power to module would come from elsewhere.
You can tie into the switch wiring anywhere or just run a separate pair of wires together the GDO

So running the module connection wires to the screw terminals on the back of the wall button would work? In other words have two wires connected at the wall switch terminals? Door does activate when I touch the wires.

Yes. You want a momentary output. Basically on then off. If the module doesn’t do that but it does a timed output, set it for the shortest duration

That module you're looking at will work fine for what you want to do. Run a couple of wires from your existing garage door button to the NO (normally open) and COM (common) of the module. It says it will do momentary switching by a selecting that in the app. Easy to power it from a USB power supply with a USB "A" style plug. The tricky part will probably be getting the app on your phone to connect to your router. Hopefully it comes with decent instructions.

depends on the model garage door opener that you have. The older ones used a momentary contact. The newer ones use more complex circuitry. If one looks at an older model remote pushbutton, it is simply like a doorbell - momentary contact. But, if one looks at a newer model there is a PCB in it with logic. Example - my Liftmaster second remote uses a two wire system but it has the open close button, a lock button, and a light button on it. Each of those buttons sends a different digital signal.

I tested it and a momentary operates the door motor. I can use the switch that came with the opener to lock and turn on the lights. The remote one can be wired into the same terminals. I don't think it will matter which button/remote switch triggers the door via the pulse.

Konnected Open Source Garage Door Opener

This is what I used until recently. It has a sensor to verify if the door is open or closed. This gives it enough intelligence to close the door every day and night at 10. Mine recently failed after a couple of years use. It could not tell if the door was open, s it started opening the door at 10PM and 10 am........ I have not messed with it since then. I probably need to do a hard reset or something.

Look into Shelly WiFi Relays: Shelly 1 Mini Gen3

You'll need to supply 120 volts to it and then program it to close the relay contact for .5 seconds thru the app. Connect it in parallel to your wired opener switch as shown by @strength_and_power in his diagram. These are very compact and will fit inside a standard outlet box.
I am looking into using this to control my medium duty liftmaster MHS5011U opener by wiring into the 3 button control station. Seems perfect since it has dry contacts.
