Remove Paint on Wood Crate

Does anyone know how to remove paint spots from an old (1950's-1960's) beer crate? The paint that needs removed is a pastel color and is NOT evenly applied, but rather it looks like spots/drips from years ago.

The trick (to me) is removing the unwanted paint w/o removing the original logo (black).

Any help much appreciated.

Don't ask.
You can try using a product called Goof-Off. Requires a little work (especialy with old paint) but I've had decent luck removing newer paint without affecting the older layer of paint beneath.

Thank you, I will give it a shot!

I'm not really sure the type or age of the paint that needs removed. I bought it off eBay earlier today. Hopefully when it arrives I will be able to tell more. But based on the description, I think the paint has been on a little while.

Either way, I don't mind to put in the hard work. The beer manufacturer is no longer in business and these crates rarely come up. More so, the name has special meaning to me so even if I can't get the paint removed I'll be okay with it. I'm more worried about possibly damaging the original logo.

Looking on Google, I see HD carries this stuff. Did you use the Heavy Duty or Professional Strength version?

I cleaned a vintage table for my wife with the same condition. Steel wool 0000 and mineral spirits worked great. I would stay away from the logo or at least try in a hidden place.

I'm guessing what I used was professional strength (liquid in a can). The first time I used it to remove old latex paint spatter and other mistakes (of at least 2 colors/repaints) from wood floors and trim.
I just put a little on a rag and dab it on. Wait (about 10 seconds) wipe it off, repeat if needed.
I have used it to remove paint or other marks from painted walls several times.
