Finally got to start the garage project. Knocking down a 50 year 14x24 1 car and installing a 24x30 2 car with 12' high walls for a lift in the future. I ran into some speed bumps with the township but should be smooth sailing from here on out. Pics will be updated as progress is made.

Demo Day

New foundation
Zoning is requiring me to use the existing foundation as I have "2" front yards and there needs to be a 75' setback from the street for my second front yard (Side Yard). Luckily the concrete truck destroyed the slab so I get a new properly pitched slab originally they were requiring the slab be kept.

New Structure

Was finally able to get the foundation finished. Decided to dig out and break up under the apron compact the soil with sand gravel etc and add in 4 courses of block. The builders are moving at a pretty fast rate.

Finished interior
Those 11.5' walls and 7' high truss really made me feel like I built a church or a second house.

Final with new extended driveway
I had the driveway paved 2 days before my wedding in october, luckily it cured super fast due to the cold.

Wow. Going WAY bigger. I like it. Are you going to do sheetrock? How much of the work are you doing yourself? Good looking photos!

I am fortunate enough to live 45 minutes from Lancaster PA so I am getting a nice Amish built garage and no additional cost for delivery. The new foundation was done by a concrete guy and he will be pouring the slab as well. I will be handling the work for the existing foundation. For the fun stuff first up will be a floor coating then the lift if the money is there. I'll be putting up sheetrook and installing a mini split sometime next year as the savings account climbs back up.

Right now the electrical is my next big hurdle. The previous owner ran some sort of outdoor 12/2 line about 8 inches deep with no piping, conduit, emt nothing... which was fun to find. I have a small deck and a small 8x8 flagstone area which the line is buried under so running a new line is going to be tricky. I also am having my wedding here in 2 months so I cant go ripping everything up just yet.

Pics updated.

Next up I need to dig and rip up some flagstone to run a new 220 line out to the garage. And of course apply for more permits for that....

Still haven't decided what I want to do about flooring. Theres just no perfect option out there. I am leaning toward wall to wall mats with joint tape. This would get me almost the water resistance of a vinyl coating without the need of resealing and failure of it down the road. The drawback being a lack of durability.

Decisions decisions...
