I recently picked up my Masterforce 72" box and I gotta say its one hell of a box for $999. I know the deal is going till March 13th online if you're looking at all...

Anyways the only thing I want to change about it is remove the master force badge. I think it will look better clean...

I pulled on it a little and it seems to be on there very good and I don't want to damage the paint or anything else. Have any of you guys removed this badge or one on any other box? Any good techniques out there or tools I should buy and use then store in the new box!

Stick your hand in the drawer and then up behind the rail where it is mounted. See if you can feel any studs holding it on. I have a feeling it is probably just glued on there. Might be able to use the fishing line trick.

It looks, like this held on place with double faced foam tape, much like
a great deal of auto trim on newer cars and trucks. Just use a plasitc scraper
or a credit card win a sharp edge.

use dental floss or fishing line to get behind the tape and kinda saw through the tape, then acetone, or 3m adhesive remover, rubbing alcohol to remove the tape glue

I've checked behind and there are no bolts just glued or double sided tape pretty high strength, any particular fishing line or just the strongest I can find?

In addition to what Jack said, if its mounted with an adhesive a heat gun (or possibly a hair dryer) can aid in removal by softening the glue/tape. Another trick is to use some dental floss. Get a piece of floss started behind the badge and then pull it back and forth in a sawing motion. I've had success removing car dealer badges this way.

Edit: Shoot... while I was typing someone beat me to the dental floss. :D

I have a roll of spider wire fishing line just for removing emblems... works great and follow it up with some goo gone or wash thinner to remove the leftover glue

The label is an aluminum label. I used a screwdriver to pry up on mine to pop them off. Just put something under the screwdriver to use as leverage. They will come right off with no damage.

IF you use fishing line, make sure you wear a pair of gloves while using it. Nothing worse than the line cutting you without you knowing it.

Im at this point now and I have some Goof Off Professional Strength here and it says on the bottle it can remove some automotive paints, should I not worry since its powdercoated?

Ok I got it all off, I tried some Simple Green and that couldn't touch it. I tested a little spot with Goof Off on the back and that took some paint off so held back for a little bit. I decided to try the Goof Off on the glue since there was a layer of glue there and it worked a little bit but would have taken awhile and to much paint off for me. I have a few cans of 3M Citrus Base Cleaner that I use to clean up me hands when they are nasty or any oil spills etc. so gave that a try and it took it off with ease! Here's a few pics...

^^^ This is from the very small test sample of Goof Off on the back.

^^^ This is a different rag after doing the entire job with the 3M cleaner, took a very small amount of paint that you cannot see on the box.

My home roll around is a craftsman. I just popped off the old one with a screwdriver and made a new one. Sometimes you just feel like you need to customize your stuff.

nice box, I have two of them and do not regret purchasing them at all. I think you will be very happy with your purchase. For the price, they are very nice.

Is your blue box the same platform as the John Deere?

Also, I like that stainless steel, table, desk, decklid.....whaddaya call that part of a cabinet?

Now that new blue looks good.....its Craftsman looking neighbor looks like it could use some car soap and a sponge.

I have no idea about a John deere box or what they look like or are built like.

It's just a stainless steel top that is optional when purchasing the box, they have 2 different wood tops you can purchase as well.

Yeah that craftsman has been through a lot lol, Its actually still in really good condition just needs a bath.

Didn't see this thread until now, but for anyone that wants to remove an emblem in the the future:

*Remove the drawer that's directly below the emblem.
*Next, take a heat gun, and heat the area where the emblem is, from the back side
*Be careful not to get the heat gun too close to the paint, hold it back 10-12" or so, moving it back and forth in the location of the emblem.
*Patience is key
*Use a plastic putty knife to get behind one edge, and slowly begin to lift the emblem with the putty knife, once the metal gets warm to the touch, somewhere in the 130-150 degree range.
*If you have one of those laser gun thermometers, that's useful to measure the temp to know when the temp is getting in the range.
*When you heat the adhesive tape from the backside, the tape will release from the painted surface without damaging the paint (as long as yr patient and don't get the heat gun to close to the paint, just remember keep the heat gun 10-12" away),
*The tape will release from the paint, so there won't be any tape stuck to the box, and no residue to clean up.
