removing mortar from bricks

My contractor, when he repaired some mortar cracking on the front of my garage, didn't clean off the mortar from the edges and face of the brick. So the portions repaired look different than the rest of the brick wall.
So I'm thinking of either taking a Dremel tool or Angle grinder to these areas to scrape off the mortar and make things match better.
Any recommendations regarding what kind of tool & attachment to use?
Appreciate it. (See below for what I'm talking about).

personally id use brick acid and pressure washer

Couple of questions.
This is over a year old. Acid wash would work still?
Wouldn’t acid wash affect all the mortar and therefore remove it where I don’t want it removed, keep the difference in look that I’m trying to fix?

I agree, a chisel and even a grinder a little but also agree that its noticeable to you while new, no one else will see it in a year.

Here's a picture of the whole front of the garage. It's the V-shaped pattern that I'm talking about. Honestly it's more visible in real life than in this photo. Am I used to it - yes. Do I see it ever time I look at the garage - yes, and it's been over a year.

That looks great. Probably the increased width of the repair in the mortar joint will always catch peoples eye more that the mortar slop.

It looks like a good job to me, but if that little mortar bothers you muriatic acid and a stiff brush will probably take that off.

Don't ask.
Muriatic acid and a stiff brush, wear PPE and have plenty of water (like a hose) ready. (Actually water and a stiff brush will probably work).
You could also try a wire brush/wheel or a needle scaler.
