Removing paint from floor before epoxy application

I just bought a house and the garage floor had been painted (poorly, because the paint shows lifting from where tires rested). What will a pro do to remove the paint prior to laying down an epoxy coating?

This is an oversized 3-car garage, and I'm trying to figure out whether I can afford a total redo of the floor or whether I'm better off just getting mats (like those that Griot's sells) to lay over the painted surface. Of course, much depends on my wife is willing to let me spend on this project when we have other things in the house to redo.

The pros will grind the floor to remove the old epoxy and provide the correct profile of the bare concrete for the new floor coating system.

See my post. I had the same situation. New house 3 car garage with painted floors. Do yourself a favor and rent an EDCO dual head grinder and do it yourself from the get go.
