Hey hope i’m posting in the right section!

Anyway, I am wanting to lift my toolbox to remove the casters and to have my box sit on the floor (on plywood or a mat) because it is too tall for me.

Looking for some suggestions. I have an idea on how to do it with a low profile floor jack, but other suggestions are welcome!

The bottom isn't completely flat, the edges overhang, so you need something for it to sit on. 2x4 would be too small, a 4x4 would probably give you the height you need. The casters just unbolt. I've lifted smaller carts and boxes with a jack one side at a time to swap casters. Larger boxes need multiple jacks, or I lift them with the lift arms on the rack. I'd get it in position, lift one side, lower with wheels removed onto new "legs" of wood or whatever, then do the other side.

EDIT: You can lift one side of a triple bay KRL with a regular floor jack, but it's a little wobbly. I use a long chunk of 4x4 on one of the main stiffening braces as my lift point. This is loaded with tools. Once I added a locker, that side needed two jacks working together to lift.

The brake weighs 856 pounds, these brakes need to be tied to a post or wall. By installing the casters this way, I kept the brake from getting taller and more of a danger. The brake is 12mm off the floor. I like to have two casters and two locking casters. I install the like casters on opposite corners. The free casters will follow the locking casters. This helps with control while moving the brake.

Thanks. Problem is, when I lower the jack I won’t be able to get it out. I need the box as close to the ground as possible!

Keep the casters. No matter where you put the box, some day you'll want it somewhere else. And once the casters are gone, "good luck" getting the box raised-up again to reinstall.

Buy a low step-stool. Or put a 6x6 as wide as the box, on the floor in front of the box.

I agree with the above comment by Schurkey. Once dead weight on the floor it will really be a monumental task to reposition or move it.
Why not build a short platform in front of the box instead?
