My macbook's magnetic charging port has tiny bits of metal scrap stuck to it. It tried removing with a folded up piece of masking tape, and then tried with a magnet. No luck.

The metal pieces are prevent me from getting my charging cable fully seated.

Any ideas on how to remove the metal bits?

I have a round magnetic dish in my shop (for holding screws and such) that will pick up metal shavings while sitting on the work bench. I use my shop vac to remove them. It might work for you.

Good luck with the long term use of the port. They go bad if you keep the charger connected hours at a time.
I had 2 books that the ports went bad on, and yours looks bad.

Maybe some tweezer, filed to a fine point at the end.

I've been using MacBooks for years and the magnetic power port connection has always been one of my favorite parts, but I've never thought about metal bits getting stuck in there.

I've noticed my charger and the laptop itself gets really hot. I'll have to Google charging recommendations from Apple. Thx for the heads up.

If the laptop is getting hot the battery may be on its way out. Is the laptop case swelling as well?
I replaced the battery in my MacBook Pro not long ago, it was pretty simple to do and the replacement battery was only around $45 from Amazon.
