I have the tool that pull in a new rubber valve stem by leverage, easy.

My question is how do you usually remove the old one. I use pliers (dikes?) and cut and tear the rubber apart from inside the rim, the stems are very hardened that is why I replace them, but I thought maybe there is a faster way.

I changed tires as a summer job long time ago. We had a lever tool that grabbed the stem and just yanked the handle and tore the old stem out. We never took the time to remove a core. You can cut through it with a razor knife or side cutter.

You can:
-just pull them out with the installation tool
-push the stem to the side and cut with a razor blade
-with the tire off, or bead broken on the inside of the rim you can just push a razor blade between the valve stem and rim
-cut the valve stem off with side cutters
-take a pair of big channellock pliers, grip the valve stem, and use the nose of the pliers as a fulcrum to extract the valve stem or pull it apart.

I've always used the install tool to rip them out. Use the hub cab tool for leverage an to protect the wheel. On stubborn ones, side cutters, or a wrench for the TR416 style
