If you have a pic it would help. Renault isn't in the US anymore. And God has blessed us by this.I worked at several Renault dealers and am Certified in Renault. It does me a lot of good. The only tools that were really needed was the CV boot cone installer , a torsion tube bushing tool , and maybe a break out box.Show us some pics.

The great thing about Renault's is the fact that the power to weight ratio actually
increses the more you drive the car..... as bit's of trim fall off. :D

They'er back, they announced a return to the US market. I have seen a dealer yet but they are coming.

Dad had one when I was a kid. It wasn't shifting right so he took it back to the dealer under warranty, after about an hour they came out and told him the clutch had to be replaced. When he asked when they could replace it figuring he was without a car for a week. The service manager told him the mechanic was just putting the motor back in the car and it would be ready in 10 minutes.

I assume they were part of the tool kit provided with the car, a lot of manufacturers used to sell their cars with a tool kit in the trunk for basic maintenance and repair.

Haha!

In the late 1980s my mother's first husband (I refuse to call him my father) owned what must have been a Medallion in Montreal. It was, ummm, unremarkable.

I believe they were sold via AMC dealerships.

The first car I ever worked on at my very first day at the Renault dealer was a LeCar. I was in shock after pushing it in and being told to remove the transmission.Everything was bizzare on the car. 3 lug nuts to hold the wheel on.Brakes that squeeled normally.I could go on.

French cars are never put together very well. But, they tend to go on for ever. I own a Citroen, Its quite a good car to drive and its very comfortable. French cars of old were known for their design features such as hydro-pneumatic suspension and headlights that moved with the steering to see better around corners. They were very easy to work on and tough as they were designed to be run in French North Africa and other French colonies. My Father owned a Renault 4 in which the gear shifter that looked like a smoking pipe. One thing about French cars is that they age very well. The older they get the more stylish they look some of the Renaults and Citroens of the 1960's are thought of as very chic these days.

At the time of "Le Car", Renault owned about 50% of American Motors. American Motors, had to sell what would be it's AM General division (think Humvee) because the US Govt would not buy military vehicles from a company that was owned by the French Govt.

After Chrysler bought American Motors, the Renault designed Medallion format eventually became the Dodge Intrepid and Chrysler 300M.

In the late 1960s I had a 1958 Renault Dalphine. Never got it running. At work back in the 1980s we bought lots of Le Cars for scrap and then resold the good parts. I remember a problem we had a few time with the engines. The early engines had S.A.E. threads on the oil filter and later one had metric threads. Leaks happend. We still have a low mileage Medallion v6 engine at work that has been sitting around a long time. We also have a 10,000 mile 1986 Omni engine built by Renault we bought in 1986. Le Frog parts just don,t sell well. And now here is a joke. Why do all the streets in France have trees planted along them ? Answer---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Because Germans don't like marching in the sun.

I had a '65 Renault Dauphine. Unique little car. Driving it was like doing 50 mph in a 55 gallon drum, very hollow sounding. But at about 35 hp and good on gas, it got me to work every day for a while. A fire in the transmission control relay box sent it to the boneyard.

Mine was a twin to this one. Pretty snazzy huh?

I was a stockholder of American Motors when they started selling the Renault LeCar and Alliance. The stock did very well for a little while.

Alliance! That's it! It wasn't a Medallion; it was an Alliance...

Found a similar car that my friend used to have . . . it was a Renault R10 rear-engine that was 1.3 ltr I4. His dad was autobody man and had it painted a cool two-color scheme.

That thing was a miser on gas as friend was so cheap he'd put in $2 worth of gas and drive for several days!!

Lmao !!!!!!!! My mom had a Renault aways back. It was my grandmothers car and it just kept going and going. I actually miss it. Never had a problem when working on it, just that parts were a PITA to find! We would still have it if it didnt get vandalised. Sugar and super glue in the fuel system. Not cool.

That Turbo renault looks damn interesting. Why do the europeans get all the cool damn cars ( post 74 I mean ) ?
