Who's used one and what do you think about them?

Also, where did you get it from?

I need to get an auto center punch and was turned away from Starrett by many of the reviews online and the apparent cheapening of tools that many have reported. Seems like many have gotten ones with soft tips and just poor finishing overall.

This is what I am talking about:

I don't care one way or the other about the fancy handle, so I'll look into Eclipse too!

Automatic center punches left to right

3 General Hardware
3 Starrett
3 Rennsteig
2 KTC

All of them work very well for the intended purpose.

I have both Eclipse and Starrett and they're both nice, but both old, so no reflection of current quality!

Starrett still look good, but that doesn't mean they are! Eclipse have changed the design a bit, but suspect they are still functional!

Last time I looked, MSC were selling one from a firm called Planet. Not sure if it was U.S. origin or U.K. but bought some where I worked and they were really nice tools!

I dig your channel, but noticed that you never mention COO. Any chance you're going to do that on future reviews? A lot of us Toolios find that tidbit of info rather important.

OP: I've got a set of newer Starretts and they've never given me any problems. Same goes for the light duty one made by Lisle.

It says right there on the video thumbnail made in Germany?

I could be wrong but tend to notice for real tool reviews videos he will highlight the COO if it is something "desirable" such as USA, Germany, japan, etc. But if he does not mention COO the tool is probably made in china or Taiwan, Vietnam, etc.

Bingo! ;)

I would say that the majority (especially power tools) are primarily made in China, Taiwan, etc.....with the exceptions being USA, Canada, Germany, Japan, etc. Since people seem to like North American & European tools a lot, I do point that out (when I know about it).

That being said, I personally like Made in USA & Made in Germany tools a lot......and go out of my way to highlight them as much as possible. There are some Made in USA tools that are junk, but they do not make it onto my YouTube channel.
