I haz garage floor:

This weekend I'll be able to put my cars in the garage finally, after all summer! It still has to be troweled more to make it silky smooth! Next step, what to seal it with???

On a side note, the fill wasnt high enough, so I now have a 12" thick floor.

Great job so far! It's night and day in there with that new floor. I've been busting my a$$ since April in my detached garage in my first house as well, so I know your pain. I moved to Sothern NH from north of Boston as well, so you're probably not too far away.

I make an effort to get along with my neighbors, our houses are only 6 feet apart. We are setback 3 feet from the property line.

I am never too busy to cut a board, or do any other little thing for one of them.

We try not to fight with one another, because when you stir **** you sometimes get it splashed on you.

I built a garage with storage space on top, I guess you could call it a "second floor" and instead of a stairs I made an elevator/lift of sorts so that we can get up there with no problems. Having storage up on top is wonderful, but unless you have easy access to the storage area, it isn't of much use to you. Going up a stairs with large objects (not necessarily heavy objects, just large ones) can be very difficult. With the elevator/lift it is pretty simple to get large and/or heavy objects up there without the danger of falling. It works well for us, possibly this is something you may be able to incorporate in your garage.

nicely done the floor looks real good. I know your pain with living in the city and ****** neighbors. just think of once your garage is done how much more you will enjoy revving engines and lighting off fireworks in the middle of the night hahah

Here are links to two short videos that show the elevator/lift and the young woman is my oldest daughter. These videos were taken before we insulated, put up the drywall, and finished off the garage. But it will give you the idea of how it works. We leave the elevator/lift up on top when not in use so there is no wasted space in the garage. Only thing is, if you put stuff underneath where the elevator/lift comes down then you will have to move it before you can use the elevator/lift. But we seldom need to use it so it isn't a big deal. Besides that, we mostly put the big work bench under it, which is on wheels, so it is easy to move out of the way.

I should also mention that we added some supports to each of the two pipes so they are a lot more rigid now than they were when we took the videos. The cable that comes with the winch will support 1,100 pounds but if you go to Farm & Fleet they sell some pretty heavy duty cable that you can get and replace it to give you an even greater lifting safety net. The newer better cable isn't all that expensive, as I recall it cost something $30 which I didn't think was all that bad.

Small Update... not really to the garage but all part of the same project.

So I started to build out my timber wall that will be the boundary to my patio right next to my garage. I need to go up one more level and then add some angled pieces on the two edges (house and garage) but heres a good idea of what its looking like. Provided the rain goes away I will finish it this weekend and then have someone come lay the stone.

Woops:

Its tight but it fits both:

Nice work refurbing the garage and yard. I have a friend that just bought a multi family in Beverly right near the train station. He's gutting one floor and getting tons of **** from his neighbors for noise violations etc. Giving him a hard time all because he's trying to make his property nicer...

Luckily my neighbors down in Medford have left me alone. Maybe it's a 128 thing haha

I swear everyone these days has a problem with everything and feels its their right to complain about it.

I think If I gave everyone in the world 1 Million dollars, someone would come forward and complain about it.

In other news, the R32 is gone and I am looking for a 996TT. So if you have one your selling or know someone whose selling one (has to be X50 and black interior and less than 60k miles) I will buy it. Goes without saying it must be stick as well. None of that automatic ****.

So since the world is falling apart with the Covid-19 thing I have been able to spend the last 4 weekends working in the garage.

The following has been completed:

Attic Wiring + Lighting
Attic access via pull-down stairs
Main level wiring and lighting
Plywooding as much as possible
Commandeering some windows from my warehouse that were never used on a project.

The goods:
